Laopteryx (stone wing)
Originally classified as a bird by Marsh in 1881, Laopteryx was re-examined by
Ostrom and re-classified as a pterosaur in 1986. The fossil which was
found at Como Bluff, Wyoming, USA, is a partial skull of a medium size
pterosaur which is too incomplete to identify to the family level.
Holotype: YPM 1800 Posterior skull and braincase with
associated tooth.
