This pterosaur was described from the Santana Formation of Brazil by Wellnhofer in 1985. Thought to be a Dsungaripterid (Bennett 1989) though Kellner and Campos (1992) consider the specimen to be a Tapejarid. There is some uncertainty that the type material may be composite in nature.
