The York collections  is predominantly from the Cambridge Greensand and includes some significant jaw material and some good vertebral and wing bone specimens, including good joint material.  The type specimen of Ornithocheirus xyphorhynchus is also held at York.  About a quarter of the specimens are of poor quality. (updated 1998)
The Yorkshire Museum is open 10.00 am to 5.00 pm daily and there is an excellent gallery devoted to Jurassic marine reptiles and fishes.
