Edward Drinker Cope 
1840 to 1897 

Edward Cope was a member of the  Academy of Science, Philadelphia.  From 1864 to 1867 he was professor of  comparative zoology and botany at the Haverford College, Pennsylvania.  As a dinosaur collector he competed against O. C. March for the best specimens from the U. S. Deposits in the Badlands of Utah and other famous sites.  He is credited with finding over 1000 species of vertebrate fossils and during his life he published  more than 1200 books and papers.
