Othniel Charles Marsh
1831-1899

Marsh was Professor of Yale College, New Haven. He collected dinosaur fossils from the Badlands of Utah and other sites in the U.S.  Marsh named over 130 dinosaurs and described 25 new genera, competing with Cope for the best specimens.  His team found the first American Pterodactyl in 1871 and went on to find significant specimens of Pteranodon.
